Following a review of the Law by Decree number 15 (1986) as appended by the Law by Decree number 12 (1994) with regards to regulate the tourism sector, and according to the decision by Minister of Information number 2 (1990) with regards to categorizing and organizing the travel companies and agencies, the Cabinet of Ministers issued resolution number 3 (2005) to regulate the job of Tourist Guides in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This resolution requires anyone practicing as a Tourist Guide must have an official license.
The qualifications for a license to be issued are as follows:
Must hold a diploma or University degree
Demonstrate good conduct. Clean criminal record and never been convicted of a crime related to honor or honesty
Must be over legal age and physically fit
Demonstrate knowledge of Bahrain’s history, heritage and archaeological sites.
In addition, a candidate must pass the verbal, written and field tests conducted by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority and pass an interview.
In exceptional cases, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority can grant a temporary license for a qualified person to work in Bahrain as tourist guide, after he/she had passed the theoretical, verbal and written tests and met the aforementioned criteria

10 BD to issue a new license or renew an existing one
License is valid for 1 year for Bahrainis and 6 months for non-Bahrainis
