BTEA CEO Participates in the Ministerial Forum on ‘Tourism's Contribution to Sustainable Growth’

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) Chief Executive Officer, Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, took part in a Ministerial Forum on the 'Tourism Contribution to Growth and Sustainable Economic Diversity in the Middle East and North Africa region', held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The event was organized by the United Nations World Travel Organization as a part of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.

The forum, which hosted a number of Tourism Ministers and leaders in the region, focused on discussing policies and ways to enhance the contribution of tourism towards a comprehensive and sustainable economic diversification.

The event also discussed means to accurately measure tourism's contribution to current and future economic growth, the contribution of domestic tourism in particular to the achievement of comprehensive and sustainable economic growth, as well as the challenges and opportunities related to investing in the tourism sector.

"The Kingdom of Bahrain's tourism identity 'Ours. Yours' is aimed at developing the tourism sector in Bahrain by increasing its contribution to the local economy. The aim is to attract tourism from the Gulf region and international travelers through exhibitions, specialized conferences, family-related festivals as well as the growing sporting and cultural events held in the Kingdom," said the Chief Executive Officer of the BTEA, H.E. Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa during the forum.

"The aim is to develop attractive investment opportunities that lead to the overall growth of the national economy. The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority also host a variety of activities throughout the year which attract tourists from region and the world. We hope that these activities will enhance Bahrain's status as a unique family tourism destination providing a diverse experience for visitors of all ages," said Shaikh Khalid.
